After Breast Augmentation Surgery

Breast augmentation is generally safe when the patients are carefully selected, the operating facility is properly equipped, and most importantly, when the surgeon is properly trained. Having considered these factors, many satisfied patients have experienced how, in a few hours, they can enjoy their new look of fuller breasts.

For the first few days after your breast augmentation surgery, you will most probably feel tired and sore. You will need to take the painkillers and antibiotics your surgeon prescribes to relieve discomfort and prevent infection.

Your surgeon will take the stitches out in a week to 10 days, but your breasts may be swollen for the next three to five weeks. Your scars will be noticable for several months but will eventually begin to fade.

Your surgeon will give you some instructions such as not to lift your arms, or not to push, pull, or carry heavy objects.Follow your surgeon's advice on when to begin exercises and normal activities. You should avoid direct physical contact since your breasts will probably be sensitive for two to three weeks.

Your New Look

Most women are immediately satisfied with the results of their surgery. Their fuller appearance often gives them a boost in their self confidence. You may find that not everyone will appreciate or understand your decision to have breast augmentation but if you have met your goals, then your surgery is a success.

Follow-up

Your surgeon will schedule frequent follow-up visits to check on the progress of your healing. In between visits to your surgeon, if you notice anything unusual or have any questions about symptoms, or what you are allowed to do, don't hesitate to call him.

It is important that you visit your plastic surgeon for follow-ups to assess the condition of your breast implants, even if all seems well with implants. Also, whether you have breast implants or not, it is essential that you do a monthly breast self-exam and schedule regular diagnostic breast screenings.
